CLUB Open BankHoliday Monday 29th August from 12Noon till 3pm
PLANNING APPLICATIONS We are currently affected by two planning applications 2011/0615 and 2011/6256 both similar and involving demolition of "Narrow Waters" and the erection of two larger houses with the now familiar "rooms in the roof" which to those of us with a cynical streak is another way of describing a three floor building. Additionally, a third house is included in the site which is possible through the purchase of some land from the garden of "Osbourne". There was a failure in that the Club was only alerted to the proposal by belatedly receiving a copy of the Council's letter from a neighbour through a misdelivery. Therefore, 2011/0615 application was dealt with before we could lodge an objection. ALL IS NOT LOST, however, as Elmbridge BC refused permission and it has subsequently gone to appeal. Closing date for representation is 26 August and the committee and specifically, P)eter Topp, President and Vice Chairman, is active on the case. Next is 2011/6256 and the notification from the Council again went astray and we only just managed to get our objection in on time. Peter has strongly objected to the proposal largely on the grounds of close proximity to our car park and the foreseen complaints from our new neighbours when the houses are occupied. His argument is that we were here before any of the neighbours and due allowance should be made for the past, current and furture activities which can legitimately occur late in the evening. Disappointing to report very little in the way of objections has been made and Elmbridge BC will not be under very great pressure to refuse the application second time around. The developer did NOT display the notice of application on the site which is in our favour but may not be Mandatory.
